The panel discussion will cover recent CPO certification and class developments, Chapter I and Chapter II developments cases, CMA interventions in the CAT, settlement developments, and the DBT consultation on the class actions regime.

David Bailey KC is a Barrister at Brick Court Chambers.  He is instructed in competition cases in the CAT, the High Court and the Court of Justice.  Since 2015, David has been Standing Counsel for the Competition and Markets Authority.  As well as acting for the CMA in its major litigation, including the Phenytoin and Hydrocortisone appeals, David acts for a variety of private clients in damages claims, including those arising from the decisions in Trucks and FX and in stand-alone competition actions, such as Gormsen v Meta.

Helen Fairhead is a Partner at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer LLP. Helen is a competition litigation specialist with a broad contentious practice and a particular focus on competition damages claims. She has acted on some of the most complex and high‑profile competition litigation of recent years, across the telecoms, technology, transport and financial services sectors. Helen has extensive experience representing both claimants and defendants in proceedings before the High Court and the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) and is a member of the CAT’s user group. She also has in‑depth knowledge of the UK litigation funding market.

Belinda Hollway is a Partner at Hausfeld LLP. She has extensive expertise in competition damages litigation, having acted in many of the leading English competition cases. She has acted for class representatives as well as corporate clients who have suffered loss, as a result of cartels or other forms of anticompetitive conduct. She is representing a large group of multinational corporate clients in litigation against Mastercard and Visa before the Competition Appeal Tribunal, in respect of interchange fees on both domestic and cross-border transactions.

Kim Dietzel is a Partner in the London CRT Group at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer LLP and co-leads the Competition Litigation practice. Kim advises on all aspects of UK and EU competition law, including strategic consideration across jurisdictions. Kim has particular expertise in competition investigations and litigation before the CMA and European Commission, and in front of the English Courts, the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal and the EU courts in Luxembourg.
